Numpad doesn’t work in Gnome

So I’ve switched to Gentoo, and was highly frustrated to find my Numpad wasn’t working. The Enter key worked, as did the NumLock, but nothing else was. Really annoying when you’ve got mouse-buttons bound to them for gaming.

Anyways, long story short, it’s thanks to accessibility (Grr…), and it’s easy to disable.

  1. Click on System –> Preferences –> Assistive Technologies
  2. Tick “Enable assistive technologies”
  3. Click on Keyboard Accessibility
  4. Click on the Mouse Keys tab
  5. Untick “Pointer can be controlled using the Keypad”
  6. Sorted!

Hope this has helped you, it caught me out to say the least …

accessibility, Gnome, numpad,
